Constant flashing screen Apple TV 4K

Hi,

When I connect my Apple TV 4K through my HDMI switcher to my monitor, the signal of the Apple TV comes trough and I can see whats on the screen, but only for a single flash, every 2 seconds, constant. There is no loss of signal, but just this constant blinking, like a very slow (once every 2 second) strobe light.

When I plug the Apple TV directly into my monitor (without the switcher) all is fine. I've changed all HDMI cables, no result. I've tried rebooting, no result. The switcher has it's own power source and is brand new (this is the one). I'm all out of ideas!

Looks well specced but AppleTV 4k obviously doesn't want to play ball.

Have you tried different refresh rates. Although it says it supports copy protected content, it or AppleTV may not be agreeing on this!

Personally I'd send feedback, thy may be able to correct in a future update assuming the HDMI cables and/switcher are ok.

We've often seen HDMI compatibility issues with ATVs over the years - sometimes new firmware fixes it, sometimes it causes problems! 😐

I’m having a similar issue if not the exact same one. I’m using the switcher within my YSP-5600 Yamaha Soundbar which has 4K pass through. I’ll start a movie in 4K and it plays fine for 15 minutes and then the flickers start. Occasionally at first and then the flickering in and out progresses to the point where it’s unwatchable. The home screen becomes affected st this point too and the only way to stop it at that point is through a compete reboot. Going to,try the refresh rate and report back.

I’m having a similar issue. When I turn the ATV 4K on it starts the flickering. If I unplug the power cord and replicate it works fine. That’s great, but really annoying to have to unplug/replica every time I turn it on.

I never had any issues with my previous ATV. I may just switch back if Apple doesn’t resolve the issue.

Similar thing for me but without an HDMI switcher. I'm going straight to my new Sony X900E via High-speed HDR-compatible HDMI cable. If I unplug the power to the ATV and plug it in it works fine but will start acting up the next time I go to use it.

Apple, what's the deal?

Happening to me too.. have to reboot atv every time it comes out of sleep.

I am having the exact same issue!! I turned off the screen saver and selected never sleep...and it still happens. I have a Sony A8F OLED. My standard Apple TV had no issues

This is happening to me too. Super frustrating. It works great -- when I can see it. After it comes out of sleep, the screen flashes on off slowly.
