MacBook Pro 2017 with touch bar constant issues with external displays

Hi there:

I finally upgraded from my old 17" REAL professional Mac Pro (gave up the ghost) the the latest and greatest 15" high end MacBook "Pro" recently. Besides the fact that the battery life under use is less than 2/3 of my old machine, and the loss of all the ports I use daily and having to carry a bag of adapters in the name of "thinness" I have real problems with the machine supporting external displays and sleep.

The biggest problem is it seems the machine will kernel panic and restart itself if I leave it connected to power and an external display. This happens with regularity. Also when using it with a USB C/thunderbolt 3 display (LG) about 10% of the time the machine will wake up after sleep, but nothing will appear on the external or internal displays (backlight is on, mouse is visible but black screen). Disconnecting the display does not help and I am forced to hard restart the machine.

And the minor but highly irritating final issue is regardless of WHERE I place the laptop compared to the main display in arrangement the machine will not always wake up and see the extended desktop for a few seconds. This only happens with the USB-C/thunderbolt link and not with the LG monitors I have that use the older thunderbolt. This wouldn't be an issue IF it did not decide to rearrange EVERY WINDOW ON SCREEN to the edges because it tried to move the windows on the external display to the internal one. Which means if the laptop is in clamshell mode the windows end up at the edge once it recognizes the external display and only a thin line is visible and I have to drag the windows back one by one.

I am running 10.12.6 (latest Sierra), and this is supposed to be Pro machine. I do not believe I am the only one using this with an external display and having these issues. Yes I know I can contact Apple, but after my last experience with how they tried to handle the issues with USB-C on my MacBook its simply not worth it. I have already gone through all the usual steps (reset NVRAM, use different port, try a different arrangement, etc etc) and now in the great traditional of Microsoft when they tell me to wipe and reinstall the OS (hah) I just pretty much hang up.

Anyone else having these kinds of issues?
