HDMI-CEC compatibility issues?
I’m trying to determine two things:
1-if my TV actually has HDMI-CEC capability, and 2-if so, how to make it work properly.
Background:
TV: Sanyo DP55D33, from 2013, has HDMI but manuals don’t specify HDMI-CEC and no settings on tv seem to be related. Google isn’t answering the basic questions on this model.
ATV4K: brand new, bought yesterday. Haven’t unplugged or reset it yet.
HDMI cable...don’t know how old it is. Not sure if it’s 1.0, 1.4, 2.0 etc.
The reason I think it may possibly be HDMI-CEC compliant is in the remote settings on ATV4K the “Turn on Your TV with your remote” is available, not grayed out. I can choose “on” and “off”. What I’ve seen on other websites says if your TV is not HDMI-CEC compatible the ATV will know not to allow this option and gray the field. Maybe that info is misleading...
TV volume controls work but I realize that’s probably working over IR.
Could an outdated HDMI cable be the issue? Am I trying to make this TV do something it just can’t? Any recommendations for an alternative solution??
My last resort will be to get a slideclick or similar so I can power on/off from “one” remote but I would really prefer to have things work together as one item (without dropping the cash on a new TV if we don’t absolutely need one).
Thanks for any advice you have!
