Can't install iTunes 12.6.3 and 12.7 on Mac OS X 10.10.5

Can't install iTunes 12.6.3 and 12.7 on Mac OS X 10.10.5

It started with my iPhone 8 Plus purchase.

I backed up my old iPhone 5 to iTunes (12.6.2 on Yosemite 10.10.5) with no problems.

Then I wanted to restore this backup onto my new iPhone 8 Plus.

iTunes said that iPhone 8 is not supported and I should upgrade to iTunes 12.7. I downloaded 12.7, mounted the dmg and clicked Install iTunes.pkg. The installer threw an alert "This software is not supported on your system".

On iTunes download page (iTunes - Download iTunes Now - Apple) it is clearly stated as a software requirement:

Software:

OS X version 10.10.5 or later

Then I read that Apple released a 12.6.3 version of iTunes. I downloaded and tried to install it but with same results.

"This software is not supported on your system".

It has been more than 20 days since I purchased my iPhone 8 Plus and I still cannot use it because of this problem. And I don't think that I am the only one.

Any advices?

next to software update (in ypur app store window) is a little 'more' hyperlink. click that and the security update appears in the list below. select it individually w/o installing high sierra. it works. good luck.

I have figured out the solution.

It is the Security Update 2017-003.

Launch App Store, you will see Security Update 2017-003, it will require you to restart the Mac after the install. Do it.

After the restart, you won't see that Alert again and be able to install 12.7 (and 12.6.3) onto your Mac. It will even get listed in App Store updates 😎

I have this problem too, after getting the iPhone 8. I'm running 10.10.5 and tried your fix. It won't work for me. I launched the APP store and the only update that is there is the OS which I don't want to install. I searched for the Security Update 2017-003, and it said nothing was found.

I can use my phone, but I can't access it on my computer to back it up and make any changes to my apps.

Anyone have any other suggestions on how to get it to install?

Same problem here, also got my new iPhone 8 plus, couldn't upgrade from iTune 12.4.2 (Yosemite 10.10.5) to iTune 12.4.2.

Same error message ""This software is not supported on your system".

I just got the iphone 8 plus today and trying to work this out..
My app store doesnt show Security Update 2017-003

is it meant to?? im new to all this
