How do I delete files downloaded on IPad?

I recently sent an email with an attachment. When the choices came up for files to attach I was astonished by how much was stored on the IPad and not by me - these are files that would have been attachments to old emails I think. How can I delete these? Where are they stored?

Many thanks.

Hi. They would be stored in the apps that can handle them, photos in Photos, documents in Pages or Word, etc. You can open those apps to delete them. And they would have been stored by you. The Mail app does not automatically save attachments automatically.
