Trying to create a bootable High Sierra USB stick does not work
After downloading the installer for High Sierra and following the appropriate procedure (that is in my case either using the Terminal or DiskMaker X or Tinker Tool System) in none of these cases the creation succeeds. Error message goes like this:
"The selected item does not appear to be a valid OS X Installer. It is lacking the subfolder "Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg"
Of course the installer comes from the official App Store. I tried it several times with the latest High Sierra as well as the newest High Sierra Beta Version: Download from App Store, then quitting the installer and choosing the "install High Sierra" application in the applications folder.
I'd appreciate a hint whether this is a bug previously unknown or if the missing folder can somehow be obtained separately and being added to the installer package? Or is it my fault? Thanks for any help. If there are other ideas how to obtain a bootable installer USB stick, always very much appreciated!
