I figured out the problem. Delete device from phone and unpair from auto. On my Toyota’s steering wheel, there is a phone off hook symbol and a talk symbol, press both together. The system will give you a list of options, select setup. Next option choice select pair phone. During pairing select play through car’s system. This worked for me. Originally I selected Bluetooth set up instead of pair phone, this was causing the error phone “not linked “. Using the setup option on the aux option on the stereo screen never gave me the option to pair phone. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Boobootyke,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. I understand that since updating to iOS 11 you're having trouble with the Bluetooth connection between your iPhone and your car. I see that music will play via Bluetooth, but other features are unavailable. I know being able to utilize all of your hands-free features is important and I'd like to help. I'd recommend working through the steps below:
  1. Check your car stereo's user manual for how to pair with a Bluetooth device.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, and turn off Bluetooth. Wait for 5 seconds, then turn Bluetooth back on.
  3. Restart your iOS device.
  4. On your iOS device, unpair your car stereo. On your car's display, unpair your iOS device and any other devices. Restart your car and your iOS device, then pair and connect again.
  5. Update your iOS device.
  6. Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.
  7. If you still can't connect, contact Apple Support.
