My MAC is dead.😢 Won't boot. Tried everything except reinstalling the OS. I tried the command + R to recover from the net, but I only get a little past the spinning globe. Is there a place to download the High Sierra DMG file? Ever the regular Sierra would be OK. I obviously can't get to the MAC App store.

No. Only the App Store. Any other source would be a violation of Apple's licenses, and a risk to you.
If you have another Mac, or a friend, you could login to the App Store with your Apple ID, and download a copy, then use DiskMakerX to create a bootable installer. All legal and safe.
You could also try Commnad-Option-R boot to boot into Internet Recover mode, and download the original macOS that your Mac shipped with (assuming your Mac is new enough to include Internet Recovery firmware. Otherwise, if you started with Snow Leopard or earlier, you could start there and work you way back.

Thanks for the reply. I already tried the command-option-R. That doesn't work. It tries, but only gets so far and then dies. I think it's Apple store time.
