iOS 11 Dock Floating Problems On iPad Air 2

I upgraded my iPad Air 2 and now my dock seems to float from side to side or up or down depending if I’m in landscape or portrait, see below. Is there a fix for this or is it a known problem that is going to be addressed in a version upgrade? I have not been able to find any documentation on this issue & I can’t believe I’m the only one having this problem.

Thanks,

Jim...

You are not alone. I hope they fix this. I can’t access the apps on the left of the dock when this happens, so I am forced to restart. I expected them to catch the bug and correct it in the last update, but no luck yet.

As you can see, not only is it floating in both orientations, it disappears altogether on one side.

I’ve posted here previously and really want to nail this down. I’m running iOS 11.2.2 on an iPad Air 2, model MGKL2LL/A.

I went into Music, selected a playlist, then shuffle. I pressed the home button to return back to my main home screen and the dock was gone.

Before restarting I rotated my device in 90 degree increments clockwise and the device displayed the following:

180

270

I then reset my device and dock appeared as normal, unfortunately now Bluetooth is activated.

I do not have this problem on my iPad Pro 10.5, sounds like maybe something didn’t quite install correctly when you did the update. Would suggest taking it in and having someone look at it at the Genius Bar, this isn’t normal and kind of hard to fix something on a small scale like this....There are bugs I’m sure that need worked out, but you should also post this on Apple’s Feedback Site, and let them know you’re having this problem as well, that way they can see it is an issue and look into it. On these forums, Apple does not monitor them nor do they read the posts left so if you don’t put it in the feedback section, they may not even know it is an issue.

So some piece of code randomly didn’t install. OK. The same one for several of us... OK. so it couldnt be a bug. OK.

You do realize that if we didn’t get all the code, the verification would have failed?

It's a bug. There’s some condition like a setting that you have different that doesn’t trigger the bug. You’re lucky. Some of us have the bug. I assure you, we all got the entire download. Because it hasn’t affected you yet though, doesn’t mean we didn’t get all the code installed.

I’m having the same problem using an iPad Pro, the dock appears tiny to the right from one of the landscape sides, from the other it is gone, in both of the portrait sides it is giant and it continues off screen.

Another thing I noticed it is that sometimes while draggin apps it shows the icon in a different place, it follows my fingers movement, it is just not below it.

Also, sometimes, I rotate my ipad to landscape mode and it doesnt change the the screen orientation. Maybe it is all related

I just chatted with Apple Support. I was told to try to reset all settings. No data loss but pain in the neck to have to recreate how I like things.

FYI problem started with IOS 11 and didn’t get fixed when 11.1.1 was installed.

To Reset All Settings, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.”

Been using for about 90 minutes since reset. So far, so good. I’ll update tomorrow if it didn’t work.
