Since the latest operating system update, temperature and humidity have disappeared from information available in workouts. Is there any way to restore that?

I loved coming back from exercise and looking at the summary of my workout to see--in addition to average heart rate, calories, and distance--the temperature and humidity during my walk. Since the latest operating system update, that information has disappeared. It doesn't seem to matter if I am using "other" or "outdoor walk"--it's gone. Why? Can I restore it somehow? Is there another place to find it?

Thanks, Jan

Apple has not removed the temperature and humidity information from Workout app summaries.

If it is not being recorded for your workouts, then it may help to check your settings:

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services:

  • Check that Location Services (the main setting at the top) is turned on.
  • In the list of apps beneath, check that Apple Watch Workout is set to While Using and Weather is set to Always.
  • Also enable options under System Services including Setting Time Zone, Motion Calibration & Distance, Wi-Fi Networking and Mobile Network Search.

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Background App Refresh:

  • Check that Weather is enabled.

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > Weather > Default City > select Current Location.

I know both of those things about the "other" workout. My point is that I am irritated that I can't use the "outdoor walk" app and get credit for a full workout so I use "other" as a poor substitute. I would like to do both. My watch and phone are connected via Bluetooth, I have calibrated the iwatch endlessly, and I always have the phone along. No difference.

Thank you, Jonathan. This is very helpful (and I realized I'd also had to do a reset to fix a Verizon problem with the upgrade, which likely turned off some of these services). The only one I couldn't find is that "apple watch workout" doesn't show up as an app I can enable on location services. Is there a place I should set that up? I couldn't find one under the workout app in the iwatch module on my phone. Your support is much appreciated.
