As I have not yet heard form OWC Tech Support? But spoken to the UK Main Distributor I fear theres compatibility issues with there "Power Driver" and the 2011 MBPs. I have been able to get EL Captain and a 13" MBP "About This Mac" system report to recognise the Dock, but still will not show up on the Desk Top? My 17" and High Sierra will simply not connect.
As this is a used purchased E-Bay Dock and the Warranty is not transferable, I am screwed getting any help. Can anybody recommend a fully working Thunderbolt 2 Dock for the 2011 MBPs? Thanks
Thanks for your input. I have put in a request tech support etc. With OWC and wait till next week. I also have put out this post to the many who many have experienced such problems and are willing to share or offer advice.
Hello any device that’s connected to the Dock apart from a Monitor HDMI will not show up on the desk top the computer will not recognise the Dock? If you have a Drive or Audio Interface Connected to the Dock the computer does not find it?
Again any device connect to the Dock and the Dock connected to my MBP example HDs do not show up as icons on your desk top? When the Dock is connected and being recognised by the computer it is shown under About this Mac system settings thunderbolt? So you know theirs communication and the Dock is working! That is not happening. Therefore there’s no devices shown like HDs. I have now sent the Dock back to the e-Bay seller. So now I have to find something that will work with my MBP. Thank You Again for your help and advise
I am not trying to discourage you, only suggesting that those guys already know the answers. Here, it may take a while before someone with the same issue wanders by and stops to check in.
It’s fine thank you. You well maybe right about people checking the site and this post. I still have PRAM and SMC to reset as I wait for OWC support.
Thanks I have tried that? No go! I am looking for a Dock that works ?
but still will not show up on the Desk Top?
what is it that used to show up un your desktop? a drive?
The only items we Expect to see on the desktop are these, configurable is FINDER Preferences (not System Preferences):
the Dock itself is not one of those devices, and is not expected to appear.
If you have a DRIVE that is connected but does no appear, the first question is, "does it show in Disk Utility?"
This article on their web site indicates they are now using a new Driver with a different name:
that Driver appears to be available with this download:
