My keyboard is wireless and appears connected properly. Pressing F11 key makes my page disappear, while the F12 key brings up the dashboard. Have no volume control appearance on my screen.

If you hold down the fn key, does it show the volume? If so, check System Preferences/Keyboard/Keyboard to make sure Use F1,F2, etc box isn't checked.
Try checking System Preferences as I posted above.
Do you have another keyboard you can test with?
happened to me before but I don't know how I fixed it at all.
Try going to System Preferences > shortcuts then display thats for brightness
or try restarting
Holding Fn didn't do anything.
