Why does a blank message box pop up when trying to view my phone while locked?

I was trying to look at the time on my phone, while the screen was locked. When I hit the side button to see the time, a blank text message preview box pops up. There are no messages, and it blocks the time. This just started after updated the iOS to 11.0.3
