My face is locked with a picture. I do not want to see a picture when I turn my wrist. I want to see the time.

My home screen on Apple Watch shows a picture when I turn my wrist. How do I remove this, so that I see the time when I turn my wrist?

Apple Watch, watchOS 4

Hi

Upon raising your wrist, your Apple Watch may be displaying the Photos app. If so, to change your settings in order to have the watch face shown instead:

  • On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Wake Screen.
  • Under the heading "On Screen Wake Show Last App", select your preferred behaviour.
    • To have the watch face return to the time rather than the last app used upon raising your wrist, select "While In Session".
    • Note that session-based apps that are still in session (such as during a workout) will still be shown upon raising your wrist.

You may otherwise be using the Photo watch face. If so, to remove the Photo watch face from the collection on your Apple Watch and instead use a different watch face, follow the instructions here:
