Wireless Charging Animation

I purchased the iPhone 8 Plus a few weeks ago, and although I have been mostly impressed (I previously had the 6 Plus), I have noticed a few glitches in iOS 11. Aside from those, I was wondering about one trivial detail that seems to be missing.

I use a wireless charging pad to charge my phone. In the commercials, and in the keynote, when the phone is placed on the wireless charging pad, there is a cool animation on the screen... except, it never happens on my screen! I have searched settings and googled this issue many times, but it appears I am either a unique case, or no one seems to care? So, am I crazy, or is the animation just not working for wireless charging?

It does charge, and there is the little lightning bolt next to my battery, but this is just something I've been wondering about.
