Chrome Window Loses Buttons in Split Screen

Recently whenever I open another Chrome window and then press down on the green button to move into split screen, the second chrome window loses the top bar (the red, yellow, and green dots etc) and to close it I need to quit Chrome entirely.

As you can see in the right hand screen (with this question) the tab bar is just a grey. I have 'Always Show Bookmarks Bar' and 'Always show tool bar in full screen' checked.

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13)

Okay well the easiest thing to try is just to restart the Mac.

It seems to be a Chrome problem. I tried Firefox and Safari and both hide the control buttons until you mouse up to the top of the screen. Chrome doesn't. It continues to show the control buttons on one half of the screen.

You would need to contact Google Chrome support or just use the way it does work.

Just returned from doing that and no such luck. If I go to File>New Window and make a split screen from that it seems to work, but if I take it from a new tab in the open window it does the grey bar.

Well, I only tested the former way and I'm not understanding what you mean by "take it from a new tab". Are you starting with Chrome in Full Screen?

I see what you did and I can recreate it. What I don't know if it's a Chrome issue, a High Sierra issue, or if it's even supposed to work doing it that way. I'll try some other browsers.
