My iPhone 6 shuts down frequently unexpectedly. It is updated to IOS 11.. battery cane be at 50 % and still shuts down. Have tried reset but no improvement. I read that this happens to the 6s and 7... what do I do next...

What do I do about a iPhone 6 that keeps shutting down even when battery is 50%?????

iPhone 6, iOS 11.0.3

I have an iPhone 7 and I don't have that problem and know many people with an iPhone 6, 6s, and 7 that don't have the issue either. If you are having an issue I would schedule an appointment at the Genius Bar and have them run a test on the battery. If it's faulty, they will give you options on getting it replaced.

I use an iPhone 6S and an iPad pro 9,5. They both seem to be slow since the upgrade to IOS 11 (they use the same processor A9). I have read and watched a lot of information on this processing speed reduction. It seems that a new feature has been included by Apple: they reduce the processor capability (speed) by half when your battery has lost a bit of its initial capacity (threshold not known). The explanation is that Apple has included new features in IOS 11 which are designed to be most efficient on the new (iPads Pro) and iPhones (X and 8). The processor clock slow down aims at avoiding your phone to stop if your battery is not preforming correctly anymore, and probably also to avoid over-heating of the processor, when you use more processing power with the new or updated applications.

My iphone 6plus has slowed down to the point of being a nuisance and unusable. I thought it was close to max in memery but I am using less than 18gb from 64. I am so upset. The story of battery is bulloni. I do not want to upgrade. If I do, I dumb apple. This is indecent from Apple. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Anyone knows how to go back to on old iOS? I work in underdeveloped countries right now and no need for latest models.

Thank you for this Eb246. I am very disappointed as well. Not really for my phone which I am using for short and basic tasks. Even like that, it definitely is slower than before the update to IOS 11. I have asked Apple support if we could switch back. Their answer is : no, either you change the battery (their is a significative cost behind this)or you wait until a possible fix is proposed in a future update. No commitment. More important for me is my iPad Pro 9.5 which uses the same processor than the iPhone 6S I use. The same problem exists and I am not happy at all. I am using it much more than my phone, with more applications. And everything slows down as well. There are even some things from FaceBook which bug now. FB update bug? Or Apple bug ? I know this machine has not been sold massively, But still, I chose the 256 gb option and the price is high for an obsolete machine after 2 years only. I am extremely happy with the Apple ecosystem. That is why I accept the higher price. But in this case I need to use this iPad at least 2 more years. I will therefore follow this issue closely. And will post regularly here when something can be useful for this community.

This is caused by Apple themselves they are slowing the phones down 6 6s se and 7

thats real crap on apples part and I won’t be buying another apple product since my phone is only two years old. If there’s a battery problem they should fix the problem by replacing the batteries Oh right Apple can’t afford that!!!

I have a 6+ 64GB, didn't have any issues with my phone until the update to 11.2.1. I have done the resets, reboots, restarts. This is an Apple issue, they need to fix this. My phone display will show the battery anywhere from 85% to 30% before it freezes then restarts and says it is in need of recharge, plug it in and it is at whatever the charge was before it froze. Before this last update I could use my phone all day with no problems and it would be at or under 10% for at least an hour. Last ditch hope is doing an erase and restore from a computer backup prior to 11.0
