Text notification sound but no text message

Hoping you may be able to help answer a question... at 3:01 am I received a text notification sound but when checking my phone found no new text message, only one unopened message from the previous morning at 9:14 am. I noticed my icloud backup had started 2 minutes earlier. Would that have created a reminder notification even though I have my repeat notification for text messages set to "never"? If it's not related to the backup, any ideas on why no text message was there? FYI, I also verified I have no other notification set to the same sound as the text message sound, I also don't have any Do Not Disturbs activated, and I checked my text message log with my cell phone carrier and found no messages even close to that time frame I received the sound notification.
