My volume symbol keeps popping up on my iPad Air ,even when it's asleep

I can be using my iPad Air and a ringer symbol will pop up then another will pop up saying silent ,I've seen it do it when my iPad is asleep and the screen will just light up with the ringer symbol or the volume symbol,has anyone else had this problem and any advise

iPad Air Wi-Fi + Cellular, iOS 11.0.2

Hi Logan101265. If you've enabled the Side Switch for Mute, the switch contacts may be a little dirty. Try working the switch back and forth 10 times and see if it helps. And if you're seeing the Volume symbol also, do the same for the volume switches..
