Hi,

The last item in the last picture does that download the picture ?

Also try adding a Public DNS server to your Router and Mac Settings.

Free and Public DNS Server List (Valid October 2017)

Hi,

The Mac version uses a different process to send files (pictures) and this in fact uses a different server to the text part of the conversation.

The names of the servers used can be very obscure and some ISPs DNS server have difficulty finding them.

I find the Google DNS server of 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 do not have this issue.

However I am now at a point where I don't know what else to suggest.

Hi,

It is either to do with something on your computer that is blocking the process that deals with file transfers in Messages ...

or it is something to do with the way your Mac or router is getting routing information such as you ISP updating their DNS server and not having info about the more obscure Apple Server names.

Some DNS server info is better that others.

You can add DNS server info to your Mac and/ or to your router.

Hi,

In Console you might see items that have crashed in User Reports.

Checking other areas of Console is unlikely to produce anything that can be made use of.

I am having the same problem. To answer your question, clicking on the download arrow does nothing. The images appear fine on my iPhone. I am *pretty* sure this started happening when I updated my iPhone to iOS 11 last week or the week before.

I can't see how this might be related to a DNS server issue. On a typical day, I connect to at least 3 different networks (2 wifis by different ISPs and one hotspot) and I am having problems on all of them.
