Hello,

I am also having delivery issues! Apple delivered the new iPhone X to my address without any signature requirement! As a result of that, the package got stolen. Apple has launched a "shipping investigation" but in the meantime I am expected to pay monthly installment on a phone I have not yet received. Whenever I call Apple they put me on long holds (last hold lasted 24minutes and 41 seconds) and no one is providing me with any definite answer!

What am I to do next? Simply keep paying get robbed by Apple Inc. ? Can Apple deliver such expensive packages WITHOUT a signature requirement and then hold me responsible?

Actually, Apple doesn’t deliver anything. Just like anyone else shipping a package, they hand it off to UPS, FedEx or whichever courier is being used. So the shipper is technically liable for and responsible for the delivery of that package since Apple has zero control over it once the shipper picks it up.

Apple ships with the check marked for “requires a signature”. If the shipper’s employee ignored that, then they are responsible. Apple will have launched an investigation with the shipper for your package, but you’d be wise to lodge your own complaint with the shipper as well.

Apple sent me an email with shipping instructions which included tracking number and other details. In the email, it is clearly written that "No signature is required for delivery". This to me means that Apple did nt require a signature, hence I feel Apple is responsible for their negligent actions.

Am I wrong in assuming that, given that the email came from Apple, not UPS.

When new lines are released by Apple, we always see this. That is why in San Francisco the majority contents of a UPS delivery truck parked in front of a mall were stolen and over $350,000 worth of iPhone were taken from a locked UPS van.

When Apple has a shipper handle delivery, the delivery is insured, however, they have to initiate an investigation with the shipper. Once that is complete, Apple will make you whole. Unfortunately, it takes a short period of time to complete this. You are going to have to try and be patient while this occurs and is closed. Like the others, I'm quite surprised that a signature was waived, but I wouldn't worry, Apple will take care of it. I've seen all of these over the years get settled.

I didn't mean that you waived it, it was a reference to the fact that it was not marked as required. Sorry you did not understand that. I don't think that any of us can imply anything except that it was not marked as required. You are free to be of the opinion that it was negligence, it may have also been an oversight. Either way, no sense in arguing semantics here.

As far as the charge, if you are part of the iPhone Upgrade Program, the first installment was changed when the device was shipped. That is standard, since the finance company that handles it has no idea that the device was not received. You should be made whole before the next installment is due as the shipper and Apple complete the investigation.

No point in blaming Apple. They consign the purchase via a third party. Until the delivery is actually made, they are not going to know. Every aspect of a delivery takes a day or two to register within the system.

I'm not defending Apple in saying this, I'm just pointing out the way things are done. It's 2017, things like this are handled by unimaginative machines.
