No, that is not true for the iPhone x release. They are NOT all unlocked and if you want to use a US iPhone in another country, then do not purchase a Verizon or Sprint phone - they work on the CDMA networks in the US that are not available in other countries. If you want to use it in another country, then you need a GSM phone, which in the US will be either AT&T or T-Mobile, but not at launch for the iPhone x.

Yes, there is not that much change with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, so it is likely that there is an unlocked version available, but the iPhone x is such a new phone, that historically Apple does not release a fully unlocked version until about 6 months after release.

Also remember that if you purchase a US iPhone to use in another country, you have NO warranty on the phone if it goes wrong. iPhone warranty is not international. If you have a problem with the phone, then you have to get on a plane and fly to the US to get the phone fixed.

Wait until the iPhone x is available in your country and purchase it there, so that you know it will work and you will have warranty cover.

Some have said that you can purchase a T-Mobile version and it may work, but only if you don't activate the phone with the T-Mobile sim card provided. If you use the T-Mobile sim to activate the phone, then it will lock to T-Mobile.

Normally, Apple will release an unlocked phone about 6 months after launch of a new phone.

Wait six months if you want a truly unlocked phone or go and purchase from a European country, such as the UK, where all Phones purchased from Apple directly are unlocked and are more compatible with your country than a US iPhone is.
