Beeping iMac

Hi All,

Thank you in advance for your help.

We have this iMac at the office(old), and recently it started beeping. It beeps every 5 seconds once. So according to the info below, it looked like a memory problem. Although I have had upgraded the memory 4 years ago, I took the 4GB(2 sticks) "upgraded" memory out and put the original 2GB(2 sticks) back, and the same problem. I have ordered new 4GB(2 sticks memory) and still the same problem. And yes, I did try different slots, different combinations too. Same result every time.

However, if I unplug the power cable from the computer about 5 to 6 hours (does not matter which ram in it) then when I replug it, it starts without even pushing the power button. And it works until I restart it. When I restart it, again the same beep comes up.

I do not know what else I can try to fix this.

1 beep = no RAM installed

2 beeps = incompatible RAM types

3 beeps = no good banks

4 beeps = no good boot images.

5 beeps = processor is not usable

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

I attempted to get the Apple Hardware Test to start but no luck.😟

Once, I was lucky enough to start the machine from the USB and reinstalled the mac system. After the installation, when it rebooted, started the same beeping. Now those random starts becoming very rare. Even few times fan started really loud. I think this mac is gone. Time to upgrade 😟 Well, We had a good run...

PS: At least, I got to delete everything and reinstalled the vanilla OS X before I get to rid of it.
