Do I use both Time Machine and Time Capsule for backuping my computer

iMac (24-inch), Mac OS X (10.7.3)

Yes. Time Machine is the backup utility. Time Capsule is a backup drive. However, you can backup to any drive connected to the computer internally or externally other than a Time Capsule. The latter merely joins an Apple Base Station router with a backup drive (internal) to enable wireless backup as well as directly connected backups.
