How do I get rid of hanging indents in a table cell in Pages?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion
Hi Allen,
With the current state of Numbers (and the other iWork applications, it's usually useful to provide the version number of Numbers and of the macOS/OS X operating system you are using. With Mavericks, your Numbers version could be either 2.x (Numbers '09) or 3.x (Numbers 3). The two share a name, but the newer one is NOT an advanced version of the older one, but an entirely new application.
That said, your issue may not require knowing which you are using.
The image below is from Numbers 3.6.2
Go to the View Menu and choose Show Rulers.
Click twice on one of the affected cells to place the insertion point in the cell. You should then see something similar to the three blue markers in the ruler above.
Using the mouse, grab the rectangular First line left stop and drag it right to sit on top of the triangular Left stop.
Release the mouse button, move the mouse down slightly, grab the Left stop, and drag it leftward to the original position of the First line left stop. The triangle will carry the rectangle with it, and both stops will now be aligned to the left edge of the cell.
Grab the white-filled circle at the bottom right of the cell and drag it downward to appy the same ruler settings (and any other format attributes) to the cells in the rest of the column.*
*IF you are using Numbers '09 (version 2.x), dragging the white circle will also copy the content of the first cell into the cells below. To place the formatting in these cells without disturbing the contents, use these steps:
With the insertion point in the newly formatted cell, press option-command-C to copy the format of that cell.
Select the rest of the affected cells, then press option-command-V to paste the format into the rest of the cells.

Barry
