Watch Series 3 will not pair with my IPhone 5S OS 11.0.3. Can you help or do I need to just return the watch?

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) requires an iPhone 5s or newer with the latest version of iOS.
Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) requires an iPhone 6 or newer with the latest version of iOS.
