Why does the lock screen turn on randomly and doesn’t turn off until I hit the lock button?

In case you are still having the issue ... Like another reply said, open Settings and go to Display & Brightness. Below Auto-Lock, look for Raise To Wake and tap its switch to turn it off. I did not have to reboot my phone (6s), but others might.

This had irritated me for weeks until I figured it out. According to the store salesperson, it is supposed to be a feature, an “improvement” made in one of the updates to save you that millisecond of time to wake your phone. Personally, Ibfound it rather silly.

i turned off the "raise to wake" feature as I personally find it useless and waste a lot of power. But it still does not solve the issue

After a while, I figured the root cause of this:- that bug was triggered when you placed your phone close to a access card reader like a door opener. I used to hold my phone and my wallet together with my access card in the wallet, when I tapped my wallet on the card reader to try to open the door, it triggered the iPhone and got to the Apple Pay screen and since then the bug began. you can reset it by turning off the phone.

so DONT place the phone too close to a door reader and you are ok.

i think i figured out how to fix this -- easy.... power the phone off and turn it back on...

Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock. Make any adjustments that fit your situation.

This does not solve the provlem

it doesn't work. I think thats a bug that needs to fix. I look at the battery statistics and most of them are consumed in the lock screen 😠😠

Restarting doesn’t work.

I went to the apple store and the associate reset my phone and after that the issue has stopped.
