Cursor frozen on startup when trying to turn filevault on

My MacBook Pro cursor would not respond on the login screen after startup but it did move on the recovery os when I restarted again. I went through this and decrypted filevault and it worked. I need the computer to be encrypted and so I started the proces but mouse frozen on login again when it asked me to restart. I can restart and have it move on the recovery os still but none of the options would resolve the issue.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I see that you are having an issue with your cursor freezing when you have File Vault turned on. You have done a fair amount of troubleshooting already. What you have done so far leads me to think there might be something going on with some login item. I would suggest turning on File Vault and then starting in safe mode.

This article tells how to start in safe mode and then additional troubleshooting steps to try, depending on what happens when booted in safe mode.
