Safari logo stuck on screen after downloading

After downloading specific files on safari the logo gets suck on the screen. This only effects safari but the logo will appear on new tabs too. The only way to get rid of the logo is to quit safari and open it from fresh.

The downloaded files in question are links that when I click on them download automatically.

I have attached a picture of what the logo looks like from downloading 2 separate files.User uploaded file

Thanks for your help in advance.

Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items. Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History…. The down side is it clears all cookies. Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db and move it to the trash.

Go to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.

If you navigate to a downloadable file with Safari (for example, by clicking a download link), Mac OS X's download validation will warn you about unsafe file types, and you should cancel if you have any doubts about the file. If you download a file by Command-clicking or selecting Download Linked File from a contextual menu, it will not be inspected by Mac OS X's download validation and it will not be automatically opened. You should inspect the downloaded file using the Finder as described above. If you were expecting a document and Finder indicates that it is an application, do not open that file. Instead, delete it immediately.
