I just recently was messages that I had no more storage on my iphone7. My photos are just over 3 gigs and I have less that a dozen apps, all well under 500 mg. Yet the iPhone storage is stating that I have over 30gb used in ‘media’ (blue bar). I have deleted all attachments but no luck. What is happening?

I understand you want to know how to see the specifics of media and how to delete. I may be able to help with this. Media in storage can be a number of things like music or videos. What's amazing about iOS 11 is that you have more options to remove specific items. For example, if you go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Messages, you'll see a break down of how much space these messages are taking which includes; Photos, Videos, GIFs and Stickers.
