The media in my iPhone storage is too much. The numbers add up to 4000 mb but the blue bar is twice that. Is there a way to go into the phone and c what that extra media stuff is and delete it?

Hello, Quinjesuis.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I understand you want to know how to see the specifics of media and how to delete. I may be able to help with this. Media in storage can be a number of things like music or videos. What's amazing about iOS 11 is that you have more options to remove specific items. For example, if you go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Messages, you'll see a break down of how much space these messages are taking which includes; Photos, Videos, GIFs and Stickers. Each app will be different on how you can manage their storage. This link has more information: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!
