iphone 6 and 4 wont connect to sony car stereo
Nothing I do can get an Apple device to connect to a Sony cdx-g1200u car stereo. Won’t charge or play any music. Just says usb no support the instant I plug a usb in.

- Verify that your iPod or iPhone model is listed on the iPod Compatibility Chart for the car stereo. The compatibility chart can be found under your specific model of car stereo on the website or refer to the iPod compatibility list found in the operating instructions supplied with the car stereo.
- Disconnect the iPod or iPhone player from the car stereo.
- Verify sound plays through the car stereo without the iPod or iPhone player connected.
- Verify sound plays through the iPod or iPhone player when not connected to the car stereo.
- Confirm that your iPod or iPhone player has the latest firmware version installed.
- Reset the iPod or iPhone player. Information about how to do this should be available in the operating instructions that came supplied with your iPod or iPhone player, or we recommend that you contact Apple directly for further assistance.
- Reconnect the iPod or iPhone player to the car stereo receiver. WARNING: There is a risk of hardware damage to the iPod or iPhone player if the car engine is turned on while connecting the player. Make sure to start the car engine before connecting and turning on the iPod or iPhone player.
- If applicable, make sure that the car stereo is set to the Passenger control mode. NOTE: If the car stereo is set to the Passenger control mode and your iPod or iPhone player is on the compatibility list, the functions of the iPod or iPhone player will need to be operated through the car stereo.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.
