Screen backlight bottom edge stage effect

Hi guys, I am facing this issue where the screen backlight of MacBook Pro 2016 shows some kind of stage effect .. only noticed if the ambient light is dark. I recently updated macOS high Sierra ... not sure if the screen brightness under dim conditions are altered by the update

Hi rskdutta,

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are having trouble with the backlight on your MacBook Pro only if the ambient light is dark. I would recommend you read this article and use it to help troubleshoot the issue.

If the battery is nonremovable:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds.
If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch ID, the Touch ID button is also the power button.
  3. Release all keys.
  4. Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.

Cheers.
