Magnetic Wireless Car Mount for iPhone X?

I am considering getting an iPhone X. I use a magnetic mount in my car for my current iPhone and hate having to plug it in every time to charge. I have also heard the iPhone X is all glass on back so nothing to attract a magnet.

With the iPhone X could I stick a magnet or metal strip on the back the iPhone X so it will stick to a magnetic Qi wireless car charger mount? Something like this: Amazon.com: Magnetic QI Wireless Charger Phone Holder, Oenbopo Wireless Car Cradle Charger Mount Phone Holder for Samsun…

I would think everyone would want this functionality in a car charger. No more cable to plug in and just remove from magnet... simple....

This may not fully answer your question, but I use an Aukey magnetic air vent car mount on my two vehicles, a 2013 RAM and a 1995 Miata. Amazon.com: AUKEY Car Phone Mount, Air Vent Magnetic Phone Holder for iPhone X / 8 / 7 / 7plus / 6s, Samsung, LG, Nexus …

I have tried two different positions for the thin metal plate that attaches to the back of the phone with adhesive to enable the magnetic mount to work. I pulled the back off my prior phone, so most of the adhesive is worn off, but still enough to hold it in the right position before I put on my clear Spigen case.

Amazon.com: Spigen Ultra Hybrid iPhone X Case with Air Cushion Technology and Hybrid Drop Protection for Apple iPhone X …

The first position I tried was to place the rectangular magnet sideways near the bottom of the phone. That still allowed wireless charging using the two Seneo charging pads I purchased and used a couple of years ago with my Galaxy Note 5.

Amazon.com: Seneo Wireless Charger QI Wireless Charging Pad for Samsung Galaxy and All QI-Enabled Devices: Computers & A…

Unfortunately, the low position made the phone unstable when in the car attached to the Aukey mount. So I then tried placing the rectangular magnet vertically aligned near the top of the phone next to the camera hump. That made the phone very stable in the car on the magnetic vent mount. It was also high enough on the phone's back to allow wireless charging to worth with my two Seneo charging pads.

I should mention that there is also a smaller round metal piece that comes with the Aukey car mount that would take up less room on the back of the phone and have a lower risk of interfering with the wireless charging. But I already used that metal piece on another device.

Apple has an official support area, and this ain't it. Here we share information. I can say that I use the Pearl Magnetic mount with my phones (6+,7+ and now X). This is a nice minimal mount with very strong magnetic connection, but the plate that it uses for inside the case DOES interfere with Qi wireless charging if it's near the middle of the phone.

Alternately, I see other mounts that use a ring instead, which may work. Or in my case I have repositioned the plate to the extreme top of the case near the camera bump. This is a bit off center, but does allow my mount to work and the Qi charger to work also.

Hi,

I am using PITAKA case on my S8 and it works very good.

Cons are: not cheep, not gave you lots of protection,

Pros are: very thin like a wrap, looks good, non slippery, and works great with QI charging and magnetic mounts.

I have the mophie charge force battery cases for my iphone 7 and samsung s8+. I'm not upgrading to iphone x yet until (if) mophie makes a charge force case for it. This feature I cannot live without. I never need to plug in my phone to charge it and my phone stays right where I want it. Magnets hold the phone securely and goes on and off the mount so easily.
