Letter "I" appears as 'A ?'

I am on my iPhone 7 plus with iOS 11.1 (issue started on the previous version 11.0.3 and continued after updating to 11.1) and this afternoon started noticing a capital 'A' followed by a question mark in a box appear in my predictive text field. It seems to be associated with me typing the letter 'I' or 'i' on my keyboard. While in iMessage it does not translate the letter "i" into the symbol in the message, in all 3rd party apps (GroupMe, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram...) it will not in fact let me type the letter "I" or 'i' (capitalization doesn't appear to matter), but instead inputs the 'A' and the question mark in a box as if the two are one symbol. I have restarted my phone, reset my dictionary all to no avail. I have the English (US QWERTY) keyboard, Emojis, and Bitmoji keyboard installed. I do not have that symbol in my text replacements. The only thing that seems to have gotten rid of it is by turning "auto correct" off. As soon as I turn it back on, the symbol is back and my letter 'i' is useless in apps again. Help--this is so annoying!!!User uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded fileUser uploaded file

I am having the same issue. It began very suddenly yesterday, I had been using my phone earlier without this problem but I think sometime around 10 PM I noticed it. This morning I checked for a software update, thinking that would solve it. Updated to 11.1 but have been having the same issue all day. I noticed that typing the letter i on its own causes it, no matter where it's placed in a sentence. If you type just an O or U at the beginning of a sentence, autocorrect also suggests changing those letters to the "A ?". But as I said, it only happens when the letter is typed by itself immediately starting a sentence. Very weird.

I started having the same problem today with my iPhone and iPad. Funny that while it seems OK when you read the phone or iPad the message sent when read on a mac computer then the "I" appears replaced to the A+symbol. Extremely annoying. My husband also started having the problem today Nov 1. Apple please fix this quickly.

Same thing is happening to me. It shows up on my end on some apps and on the recipient’s end of other apps, even when it looks fine to me. So far confirmed on iMessage, Facebook, Facebook messenger. AND - there is a secondary issue I’m having that started at the same time as the “i” to I substitution - my phone is also DELETING TEXT when I send messages. Specifically it’s erased “FB” and “1030PM” and several random words. People are screenshotting my chat messages and sending them back full of I substitutions and gaping holes where words should be. Shortly before this Apple added the em dash to our text abilities and it consistently eats everything typed after the em dash is used. From entire texts to entire multi page NOTES! What is happening? Is this a virus? We need help!!

I have this problem too. I first noticed it on my Macbook Pro (purchased latest model as of 2017), but now see the issue in iMessage across all my Apple products. I appreciate all of the suggestions but like many others I have not had any success with them. Hope Apple addresses this bug soon.
