Best way to configure 8TB WD My Book Duo

Hi,

I have just bought the above device and am unsure of the best way to configure it. I want the OS and all my data on one drive and two hard drive back ups. So do I set up the drive as Raid1, so the drive makes an identical copy and then have a further usb drive running CCC. Or do I set the WD up as JBOD and have one drive backing up as CCC and a further usb drive running TimeMachine?

Your thoughts please.

NEVER EVER partition a drive to have backup and also data on it. The drive will crash (it's not a matter of if but when) and when that occurs you will lose both the data on it and it's backup. Smart computer users have separate EHDs for backup and for data, they never mix the two together. Doing so is a disaster waiting to happen! EHDs are relatively inexpensive, do not be penny wise and pound foolish.

However if you must, you would use Disk Utility to partition the drive.
