WebDAV?!?

I just updated OS X Server to 5.4, where did the WebDAV server go?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10), 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD

OK, I've found some web pages explaining that to start webdav one is supposed to use the wfsctl command. Regardless, when I update macos Server I expect that everything will function as it was prior to the update. If a service has been removed/EOL'ed the update should warn the user about that and ask if they want to continue the update.

What I observed post update is that my webdav shares were no longer accessible and it wasn't it clear through the admin GUIs that I used how to reenable my webdav shares. The TimeMachine server was similarly non-functional post update. Not good. I would advise caution before updating to Server 5.4.

Thanks for your post. I am thinking of upgrading(?) to server 5.4, but I read that the file sharing service was removed. I currently access some shared folder on iOS devices through webdav. I updated one macOS client machine to 10.13.1 to see what the file sharing service offered; I could not find any settings for webdav.

Did you succeed in getting webdav setup, and would you be willing to share instructions.

Thanks

Follow up, I tried updating my Mini with macOS 10.13 and Server 5.4 since I know about the wfsctl util to setup WebDAV. This did not work for me; my suspicion is that this somehow relates to the fact that the apps that are using WebDAV are configured to use a dynamic DNS hostname to access the Mini since I want to do this when I am outside of my home network. Anyone know how to fix this up?

Note, I have since gone back to 10.12 and Server 5.3 since that actually works for me.

I ended up going back to OS X 10.12.6 and Server 5.3.1 (I love TimeMachine) so no I never figured out how to restore my WebDAV shared folders using the latest OS X and Server. I'm going to hold off until there's another update to both before I try upgrading again.

BTW, here is the web page with info about OS X 10.13 and Server 5.4 and WebDAV: http://krypted.com/guides/macos-server-5-3-high-sierra/
