Best Cable Setup for iPad Charging
My wife recently purchased an iPad Pro 10.5". The spot where she wants to keep it at night and charge it is some distance from an outlet; ~5 feet as the crow flies, with a few twists and turns.
She spoke to someone at the Apple Store (online) and they recommended this (the link converted to a title as below, but in the description it says "9.8-ft./3-m"),
Belkin 6.5 ft./2 m Lightning to USB Charge/Sync Cable - Apple
However, I think she's better off using the Lightning to USB Charge/Sync Cable that came with her iPad Pro and one of these,
Power Adapter Extension Cable - Apple
My theory is that she's better off with a shorter distance of Lightning/USB cable between the 12W USB Power Adapter and her iPad, that there will be less power loss and better charging with a shorter cable, that the Extension Cable between the Power Adapter and the wall outlet will have no significant effect and that the Power Adapter will run cooler with closer to 12W reading the iPad.
Or, am I wrong, and is it simply better not to have the Extension Cable between the Power Adapter and the wall outlet and use the longer Lightning/USB cable? That the power loss on the outlet side is more significant than on the IPad side of the Power Adapter and that having the Power Adapter straight into the wall outlet will give better charging, a cooler Power Adapter and a full 12W?
Option 3, am I overthinking it?
