Hi Pgrigoriou,

I understand that except for when you've tested this in safe mode, your MacBook Pro is unable to get an IPv6 address. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

Since this issue was not happening when in safe mode, I recommend following the steps below:

If an issue doesn't happen in safe mode

If an issue doesn't happen when your Mac is started in safe mode, try restarting without pressing any keys.

  • If the issue comes back, you might have incompatible login items.
  • If the issue doesn't come back, it was probably caused by a cache or directory issue with your startup disk, which safe mode fixed.

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

If your issue continues, try manually renewing the IP address:

macOS Sierra: Renew an IP address from the DHCP server

You may also need to create a new network location, or check for other Wi-Fi issues:

Check for Wi-Fi issues using your Mac - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

In some countries IPV6 is still not in use , you can keep as automatic in system preferences > network .

User uploaded file

You have to ask from your service provider , I am not getting the link how to test IPV6 , just click on it , and will show the results and searching that link in my records , if I'll found post you back .

1) I tried to delete all files in system library > preferences > system configuration - did not help.

2) I tried to reinstall OS without erasing the system disk - did not help.

3) I did the clean install of MacOS with erasing SSD but after transferring apps, settings & files from backup - the same result.

3 MacBooks were updated without any issues.

Strange thing...

Maybe my english is bad, sorry for that 🙂.

It is my local network after router connected to ISP with native IPv6.

Before update to High Sierra 10.13.2 on two of my iMacs the ethernet adapter always got IPv6 address automatically by DHCP but now after update the same ethernet adapter is not getting IPv6 address.

But in the same time in VMs in Parallels Desktop the bridged ethernet adapter (to the ethernet adapter of the host MacOS which is not getting IPv6 address now) gets IPv6 address as always.

That`s why I think it`s some sort of software issue.
