Has anyone had this problem? I only have sound with headphones. When I go to sound preferences only headphones appear, no internal speakers available. Thank you.

If you have not tried this already, please try it.
Go step by step and test.
1. Reset PRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18761
2. Reset SMC.
Choose the method for “If the battery is non-removable”.

3. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
Audio Devices window
Side Bar
Click the Built-in Output.
Make sure that box is not checked under “Mute”.
Make sure that Format is set at 44100.0 Hz.
Right click on the Built-in Output for available options.

Is the led light in the headphone connector of the mac still giving light when the headphone is disconnected? If yes, there is a contact fault inside making the mac think there is a headphone still connected.

Remove the headphones and see if the speakers work.
I have done that. lol Wouldn't know they didn't work otherwise.
