iMac Monitor Glitching upon wake up

When I 'wake' my Mac from sleep mode the screen looks like the attached pic more often than not. The only way to make it go away is to shut down the computer and restart. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

Hi Schleicher970,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Thank you for the screenshot of your issue. I understand that when you wake your iMac from sleep it shows the lines on the screen and you have to shut down to make them go away. It's important to make sure that you can use your iMac uninterrupted, so I'll be happy to help assist you with this.

I suggest some software isolation and seeing if you get the same result in another user account and safe mode. This can help isolate the issue from the main user to the entire system.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Let me know how it goes and if you have any questions.

Cheers.
