how do i get the clock to display correct time on home scree

On my iPhone the clock displays the correct time even when not open, but on my friends iPhone (my old iPhone 6), the phone remains static on 9.10 how do we get it to display correct time please?

Get help with the date and time on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Go to Settings-General-Date & Time and if Set Automatically is toggled on, toggle it off for a few seconds and toggle back on again.
