G5 Tower 1.6ghz doesn't recognize existing Airport Express network

I have two G4s that work great on my Airport Express network. I just bought a used G5 tower and no matter what I do, it just doesn't recognize the network. - system profiler shows the airport extreme card is installed - I unplugged and reinstalled the card in the tower and even reinstalled the system, with no luck. any ideas out there?
