Firewire 800 connection on WD Macport

Is it possible to extract the data from this WD passport for transfer onto a Macbook Pro ????

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Hi,


If the MBP has a USB port on it, but not FireWire, then take the drive itself out of the FW enclosure and install it in a USB enclosure. You can then plug that hard drive/enclosure into a USB port and access the data.

What does FireWire have to do with this?

Unless the disk is encrypted or format unreadable by a Mac you should be able to connect via USB and read/copy the data to your Mac.


Sometimes when an external disk can't be read via its enclosure connection it is due to the enclosure failing and not the drive inside. If this is the case remove the drive from the enclosure and put in another enclosure or docking station.
