Hi N1nja47,

There's a couple of things we can try to fix this issue! Try these in order, checking if the issue has been resolved after each one:

  1. Restart the iPad (See: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support)
  2. Ensure that you're running the latest version of iOS (iOS 11.1 at time of writing)
  3. Try using a different charging cable (preferably one manufactured by Apple)
  4. Try using a different wall outlet (or different USB port if plugging into a computer)
  5. If you're using a USB hub, try charging with the wall adaptor included with the iPad

If you've tried all of these solutions, and the device is still behaving in an unexpected manner, you'll need to contact Apple Support. You'll likely need to return the device to an Apple Store so a technician can take a look at it. To contact Apple Support, simply go to getsupport.apple.com.

If you have any further questions, queries or concerns, please don't hesitate to reply to the thread as I'm following it.

Best of luck!

1) don't let your ipad drain to 0%

2) i get it, i have done this twice NOW and with ISSUE

3) problem I try to charge, and it charges, opens only to shut down

4) HOWEVER, i TRY this since it has worked for me a second time

5) plug in charger, and the moment you see the apple appear

6) have your finger on the black circle button

7) press it, but not hold, press release press release

8) get to your system preferences, you don't have much time before it shuts down and you'll have to try again

9) in system pref, TURN OFF the Wifi (and guessing blue tooth aslo) since these consume power

10) THAT has saved me twice now. the ipad did not shut down

11) my system preferences is always in the lower left corner front page, glad I put it there so I did not have to search

12) up to 2% now , YEAH and the ipad air II did NOT shut down.

Hope this helps.
