Under "General" in "Settings" the Device &Profile is missing. I have a iPhone 5. I keep getting the error "no SIM card "

Why does this keep happening? I have to keep turning the phone off then turning it back on

Thanks for any help in this matter

If you get an alert about the SIM card in your iPhone - Apple Support

If these steps do not help you might try making an appointment at the Genius Bar or seeking remote diagnosis from Apple Support.

Your carrier could provide a new sim in case yours is defective.

How do you install one? My wife's 5s has it. My 5 doesn't. You'd think it would

Profiles are generally something you install if your company requires it in order to gain access to company information or accounts. The phone does not require then to work. Why do you think you need one?

There have been some less than scrupulous people who pushed profiles as a way to get around the App Store and install apps from other sources. This is a bad idea.

Not having a profile on your phone will not result in a no SIM error. As Idris said, normally people do not have profiles on their phone, unless they have some type of special program or restriction their device. If you are using an iPhone with standard service from AT&T, you should not have a profile. If you check your wife's phone and check her profile, what is it titled?

Your problem just may be a SIM error and AT&T will just need to replace your SIM. I would go to a corporate store, since many of the resellers will charge you for a new SIM. A corporate store will not. They are different entities.
