Autocorrect capitalizes first letter of random words such as Time

Shouldn’t have to turn off anything. This started happening after that update along with the a and the symbol. The next update fixed the symbol issue but not the rest of the auto capitalization issues. I hope they figure it out soon. I’m tired and going back and changing to a lowercase g on Got. ((See it just did it👎-1F3FC;)

If you do that, though, you literally have to manually capitalize the first letter of every sentence, which, if you’ve been thumbing for any period of time (let alone typing on a desktop) is almost impossible intuitively. Long years of habit of not having to do so would need to be broken. But the random capitalization mid sentence is maddening!

This has been a problem for me too, and lately autocorrect has begun correcting to all caps on random words, such as the name of my city, which I use frequently. Turning off auto cap isn’t an option as stated above. Hope they fix soon.

iOS appears to be capitalizing words that are found as names in contacts. It happens in Message, email, and other apps. For example, I have a friend with the last name Fine, so it always capitalizes Fine. Wish their was a toggle for this. It’s very annoying.

The same thing was happening to me with the word house. I located an address in my contacts for someone on Little Brick House Road and changed it to Little Brick house Road and it corrected the issue. I have no idea why it wasn't also capitalizing the words little or brick, but it wasn't.

In one of my contacts, my city was all in caps and, despite having another 100+ contacts where my city was in mixed case, it was autocorrecting it to all caps every time I typed it. I fixed that one contact and the problem was solved.

Time is a magazine so that could be a reason for that one.

You can turn off auto capitalization too. Settings>general>keyboard

Yeah you’re right. It’s another lousy bug in this upgrade.

any updates? i have now turned auto-capitalization off and, well, you can plainly see what i have to deal with. no caps at all!!

My iPhone SE suddenly started capitalizing home. It does it in iMessage, but apparently not here.

I totally agree. Please, please fix, Apple.

Mine capitalizes Home in messenger, too. Any updates or fixes you know of? It’s so annoying!
