Final Cut Pro flashes every clip.

I am a total newb with Final Cut Pro X. I have been trying to cut a Doco shot with a GoPro and it keeps flashing, like a sudden exposure adjustment, in every clip. I can replay the same clip several times and the flash disappears, but it comes back when I export. It doesn't seem to be a "physical" problem with the clip. It isn't there on the original.

The flash happens 1-2 seconds after every cut.

I am using version 10.3.4. I have a iMac 2.5ghz Intel core 15, mid 2011 running High Sierra 10.13

Optimise a few clips to test then export again with the Optimised version.

Can you provide the specs of the clips and the FCP X Project Properties please?

Well the Project and Clips match up OK.

I'm not sure what the issue is.

Can you play the original clips in the QuickTime player with it's Inspector on.

Watch the frame rate to see if it is constant.

Maybe be a regional issue. Half a second. That’s a lot of frames. It sounds like the frame rate isn’t stable, but that usually goes to red and can be fixed up converting the file and processing to a constant frame rate. I’ve not heard of the gray frames before.

I am uploading a screen cap which hopefully you can see. The flash isn't a full frame flash, more like a sudden exposure lift in the shadows. you can scrub over the exact spot where it occurs. Probably not half a second.

Did you Optimise within FCP X?

Right click a Browser clip and select Transcode.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Sorry it took me a while to work out optimising. I have optimised everything now and it has eliminated most of the flashes in my assembly. All but two from the original cut. however all of the new clips I have added to the assembly have flashes and no amount of optimising changes that.

The flashes appear in the exported file just the same.
