Car's ipad connection stopped working after upgrade to ios 11

We have a Kia Rio 2012 model and have always been able to control media on the iPhone devices we have from the Car's steering wheel when the iPhone is plugged into the iPad jack. It allows you to manage the songs playing and charges the mobile.

Since the upgrade to ios 11 the car's audio system does not detect the iPhone anymore, therefore the audio does not play through the cable. We can get the audio to play using Bluetooth but then you lose the steering wheel capability to safely change songs. Plugging in the iPhone to the car's ipad connection now only charges the device.

Have anyone else experienced a similar problem since the release of iOS 11? How can I get the ipad jack on my car to function correctly again after the OS update to ios 11?

There have been reports of difficulties with different vehicles.

One thing that might be worth trying is to delete the devices from the car's database and add them back again and go through the pairing process. That would at least ensure there are no cache problems.

If that does not work, it may be necessary to wait for either a new software update from Apple or a firmware update from the car manufacturer.

Hello! I have a similar model car - a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring. I always use the cord that came with the car, proprietary to Hyundai and Kia, with the old wide connector. I have an Apple adapter from the old wide connector to a lightning connector. I am running an iPhone 6S. Everything was working fine, for the most part, until this recent upgrade to IOS 11. Now the "accessory" (the car) is not supported by the phone sometimes. Sometimes it will play a few songs on my iTunes playlist, and then will cut off in the middle of a song and go to radio. Sometimes it won't connect at all but will only charge the phone. I tried it also with a friend's phone and it doesn't work either.

Apple support - or anyone else - what do you recommend?
