iPhone 6s Plus radio repair

My wife has an iPhone 6s Plus 64GB Rose Gold. It's been having issues with randomly dropping celluar service with the only workaround to restart the phone or toggle airplane mode. Sprint has sent of this phone to apple for repair.

My question is, what is the common repair for this issue? Do they replace the board? The entire phone? Also, I know that iPhone 6s Plus is pretty much end of sale at this point, so how does that affect how they might repair this phone?

Other than screen replacements, Apple does not repair iPhones.

Your warranty governs and Apple may replace with a refurbished iPhone.

Be advised that Sprint has been known to mis-speak and also has

done in-house repairs. Since Sprint has your iPhone, no one in this

forum can tell you what will occur. You must work with Sprint.

And that's fine, however I did receive a real apple repair ID with my serial number and it does have a status from sprint. I've searched that repair ID and serial# on apple site and it does coincide with the repair information given to me from sprint.

I can only speak to the Technician "Tom" at the Madison,TN Sprint store. I spoke to him over the phone about what I had already done over the phone through sprint "tech support" and he was just like, "Oh yeah, we've had that a lot. We ship it straight to Apple". I was just curious if they would just replace it and be done with it or if they actually would repair it.
