It's a bug with Adobe's implementation of Acrobat Reader and its Safari Plug-in.
Consider completely uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader including any of its Safari Extensions or Plug-ins according to Adobe's instructions. I know of no reason to keep it around, especially if it's causing trouble for you.
Adobe's perennially buggy software appears to be a problem with no definitive resolution:

Just get rid of Adobe Acrobat Reader. You don't need it. Safari renders PDF documents natively.
